The Department of Constitutional Law of the Faculty of Law Universitas Brawijaya held a Guest Lecture with the theme Omnibus Law: Opportunities and Challenges on the Future of Indonesian Legislation on January 29, 2020 which was held in Auditorium Building A, 6th floor of FHUB.
The event presented Professor Patrick Keyzer from La Trobe Law School, La Trobe University, Australia. The event was moderated by Muhammad Dahlan SH., MH and attended by 100 participants from among students, academics and practitioners.
The material presented in this Guest Lecture is a discussion related to The Indonesian Omnibus Law covering the definition of Omnibus law, excess omnibus law, pancasila as Indonesian omnibus law, examples of omnibus law in Australia including the Quensland Penalties and Sentences Act of 1992 and the Australian Trade Practices Act 1974 .
Also presented material related to issues surrounding the omnibus law such as the difficulty of design, limited opportunities for debate, possible difficult to implement, and can add complexity.
The discussion also covers Omnibus law that will be made in Indonesia such as the Taxation Bill. Professor Patrick Keyzer’s presentation ended with a question and answer session with the participants. (AZL)
