Malang (08/05/2015) “The Role of Student In Strengthening Judicial Commission To Achieve the Figure of Qualified Judges”. That was the theme delivered by the representative of the Judicial Commission while giving a guest lecture to the academic community at the faculty of law Brawijaya University, the guest lecture was taking place on friday (8/5/2015) at the Auditorium Building A 6th Floor and was attended by lecturers and dozens of students from various forces.
The representatives of the Judicial Commission deliver lectures starting from flashback story, he said that at the time of the first period of the formation of KY 10 years ago, there are some parties that feels uncomfortable with the presence of KY, one of which is the Supreme Court (Mahkamah Agung), According to him this condition happens because there are some unscrupulous judges in MA is behaving incorrectly and do not want to be supervised by the Judicial Commission, another reason why the parties did not like the presence KY, is because KY the institutions that have the function of supervising, so it is natural that there are those who do not want to be supervised, he said.
The Representatives of the Judicial Commission explained, that judges must be supervised because they have a very large role as a mediator in law enforcement, he added that the main function of the judge are; lines that connecting the state with a citizen, the judge is the face of the justice system for the people who lodged the case, the judge is a great teacher in the community, and most importantly, the judge is a role model for the community. In addition to this, the importance of the supervision of the reason is because there is a potential deviation (misconduct), for misbehaviour of the judge, the technical mistakes (unprofesional conduct), and the latter is often the legal violations committed by the judge
In the middle of the presentation, representatives of the Judicial Commission explained that in the present conditions, not all of the reports submitted to the KY society can be processed, it is mainly because of limited evidence. Statistics explained that since established in 2005 KY, KY has received reports of complaints from the public as much as 11 567 reports, 957 judges examined, 277 proposed sanctions, 168 mild sanctions, 41 moderate sanctions, and 34 judges get a mild sanction, whereas overall the number of judges in Indonesia as many as 7501.
At the end of the end of the presentation, representatives of KY explained that students and universities with its Tridharma principles, student and university can actively assist in carrying out its duties and authorities, such an active role can be done in a way; Setting up and become the main source of candidates for judges integrity and quality; Reporting the track record of judges; Doing research verdict, organizes seminars and training of law; Disseminate to the public about the supervision of judges and other related things.
