Faculty Of Law Students Held A Public Discussion With Cak Nun

Monday, August 31st, 2015, to commemorate the 58th anniversary, the Faculty of Law held a public discussion with the theme “Learning Education and Cultural Sovereignty “. This event was held in cooperation by student organization FORSA (Forum of Islamic Studies) and Paper Theatre. Presented as a single speaker was Mohammad Ainun Najib or commonly known as Emha Ainun Nadjib or Cak Nun.

Located in the Hall of Building B of the Faculty of Law, the public discussion was opened by the Vice Dean, Dr. Iwan Permadi, SH. MHum. He said that the dean highly appreciated this event held by students of the faculty. Speakers like Cak Nun will provide the enrichment of knowledge of students and open ideas that may not have been obtained during the formal lectures. He also emphasized that the dean will support similar events held by students. The event was also punctuated by the appearance of acoustic music and poetry by students who are members of student organizations Paper Theatre.

Hundreds of participants came to this event such as staff employees, law students and students from other universities like the State University of Malang (UM), Islamic University of Malang (UIN), and other universities. Present as the moderator of the discussion was Dr. Prija Djatmika, SH. MS., Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law. The exposure by Cak Nun was very interesting and interactive. With his style using a mix of Indonesian and Javanese languange, outspoken, often cause laughter stir the whole auditorium. Cak Nun said that before understanding the educational and cultural sovereignty, it should be understood about methodology / parameters / point of view in advance. Cak Nun also said that there are 4 types of men. The first type are people who understands a lot about little things, such as community college. The second type are those who understand a little about a lot of things. The third type of people are those who know a lot about many things, this is the best type of person and should be developed by the campus. While the fourth type are those who understand a little about little things, which is the worst type. At the end of his presentation, Cak Nun said that in this life human beings should have a main provision which is common sense and not out of logic, and everything should be returned to its source, namely the Holy Quran. The presentation was followed by a question and answer session which was very enthusiastic followed by all participants.
