Information System and Public Relations Center (PSIK), Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya (FHUB) held Journalistic Training for Students in increasing creativity, quality, and responsibility. On Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Auditorium Gedung A Lt.6 FH UB. The event was conducted to develop and hone the creativity of students in the field of journalism, such as how the preliminary process of extracting information, covering, writing, and conveying this information was presented by the speaker of TVRI Presenter of East Java by Dimas Prakoso Nugroho, S.Kom., MA. He said the importance of verification before conveying information in the digital age requires the understanding of information characteristics in the digital age. There is a sensitivity to today’s news phenomena such as in the social, economic, political, legal and other fields. Attitudes of a Journalist include:
- Have Accuracy and Credibility
- Independent
- Integrity
- Train people’s mind and lifestyle
- Increase literacy reading
- Appreciate the truth of information
Online journalism should be able to show things much better than what conventional media can display. News shown can be told from different angles, from various sides, so that the truth of the news can be obtained better. Different views can be for example with the form of animation can make the readers do not quickly get bored with the news and even can attract the interest of the non-lovers of journalism to become new readers. Online articles in this form can last a long time, not just appearing a few days ago disappear from circulation. The world of domestic online journalism itself, some of the media have started using features of this kind although still only a small part and still not maximized. There are several things to watch out for when writing news:
Transparent every method or motive in writing a news
- In writing must have an interest to be read
- Relevance of a story.
- Not paying attention to just one topic alone regardless of other topics (Subjective)
- Updating news

- Focus on the object to be taken

The media world will always evolve, science and technology will be very influential on everything. Formerly conventional media such as newspapers, radio, and television became the main source of information for the community. Then comes the internet that provides quality improvement to existing conventional media. The information distributed to audiences by journalists can be more quickly accepted and can always provide the latest information without any time limitations. People who used to wait every few hours to get the latest information or even get to wait all day, but now can be said, with just one tap, new news will always appear in seconds.
Therefore, journalists also feel it is easy to process in the search until the dissemination of information to the public. On the other hand, journalists are also required to improve their quality in generating news, so the news is not just a rigid text that is so – just like that and does not develop.
Audience interaction activities with online journalism products can increase when the use of multimedia is also used as well as possible. Definition of multimedia itself is a combination of media – media that comes from various forms, not only from the media that is definitely related to how it works. For example the television media, the use of visual with audio is definitely connected in television, so it can not be called multimedia.
