UB Press held a Textbook Writing Grant Program for UB Lecturer (UB) with the presentation by Prof. Dr. Ir. Trinil Susilawati, M.S. and Dr. Sony Sukmawan, S.Pd., M.Pd. This activity is carried out in order to improve the competence of UB lecturers, especially in the case of writing a book. UB is one of the largest universities in Indonesia which has 1,941 lecturers (134 have professors), with the last education of more than 636 lecturers have attended S3 education until 2018. This becomes a challenge for UB to improve its reputation especially in producing the work scientific form of scientific books. However, textbooks produced by UB lecturers are lacking. Based on these conditions, UB Rector has launched a book endurance program, which is intended to improve lecturers’ ability in writing a book and ultimately the target is the number of books produced by UB lecturers published and disseminated nationally. In the endurance program this book will be given grants to lecturers to create a textbook that will be published by UB Press.
This Grant Program is open to all lecturers and employees of Universitas Brawijaya, especially those who already have a draft manuscript and have not been or are being published. The grant of this book will be prioritized for textbook writing, not books written from the rewriting of thesis, thesis, and dissertation
The purpose of this termination layoff is:
- Increase lecturer competence, especially in book writing
- Textbooks can be enjoyed widely, especially students in UB
- Can be read by the public
There are many lecturers who actually have the potential to write but rarely have a well-publicized, then UB Press is present in the middle of campus life to facilitate all academic community, whether or not have the expertise in writing. UB Press is expected to increase cultural competitiveness in terms of writing and able to disseminate to the public.
Durability Layoff Program This book is also expected to improve the reputation of university brawijaya in the field of publication of scientific papers in the form of scientific books.
