Malang (9/6/2015), The atmosphere around the campus of the law faculty of UB looks a little different on Tuesday (09/06/2015), the atmosphere is different because is not because of a quiet week which is still in progress, but because of the hundreds of new students who are following the series of SBMPTN test.

For the faculty of law, the  room used as a location of test SBMPTN is Dean Building (Gedung A), and Building B, which starts from the participants of number  315-55-00001 up to 315-55-00700 with a total of around 700 new students who joined the test.

As information, SBMPTN exam is one of the path for students to enter public universities in Indonesia along with SNMPTN. As quoted from page sbmptn.or.id, the SBMPTN written exam is designed to measure basic ability to predict the success of students in all courses, namely high-level reasoning skills (higher order thinking), which includes academic potential, mastering basic subject areas , science and technology or known as Saintek and/or the social and humanities or known as soshum. In addition to following the written exam, participants who chose a course of Arts and/or Sport skills are required to take the practical exam.

Dalam rangka meningkatkan, memperbaiki dan mengevaluasi kemampuan metodologi pembelajaran di program studi S1 Sarjana Ilmu Hukum Fakultas Hukum Universitas Brawijaya Malang, Fakultas Hukum UB melalui tim PHK B2 Fakultas Hukum Universitas Brawijaya yang diketuai oleh Alfons Zakaria, SH., LLM. menyelenggarakan kegiatan Workshop Penyusunan RPKPS Kurikulum Fakultas Hukum Universitas Brawijaya berstandar AUN QA.

Kegiatan yang digelar di Auditorium FH UB pada Selasa (09/06/2015) menghadirkan Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., L.LM., M.A. dari Universitas Gadjah Mada dan Sujayadi, SH, LL.M. dari Universitas Airlangga sebagai narasumber, Haru Permadi, SH (dosen Fakultas Hukum UB) sebagai moderator, serta dosen Fakultas Hukum Universitas Brawijaya sebagai peserta. Kegiatan tersebut diharapkan mampu menyempurnakan RPKPS yang telah disusun pada tahun 2014. Selain aspek penyempurnaan, peningkatan jumlah RPKPS diharapkan dapat terwujud dengan diselenggarakannya kegiatan ini.

The Exploring Legal Culture (ELC) 2015 which is an annual program in Germany, was followed by a delegation from the Brawijaya University, the State University of Jakarta (UNJ), and Leipzig University. The delegation of Brawijaya consists of 4 lecturers, and 5 students, namely : Radhingga Dwi Setiana (2012); Annisa Lintang Hapsari (2013), Andi Marwah (2013), Adelia Rachmaniar (2012) and Aprilivan Partogi Tarihoran (2013).

The range of ELC activities in Germany which had been started since May 18, 2015 was having a very tight sechedule, consisting of: 1) Lectures activities; 2) Visits to various international institution such as Amnesty International and the Federal Administrative Court of Germany; 3) Working Groups of UB, UNJ, and Leipzig University students; 4) Worskhop on Teaching Methods for lecturers participants of ELC, and; 5) Research Scholarship program.

Four FH UB lecturers give lectures at Leipzig University, followed by German students and then students of Indonesia. Dr. M. Ali Safa’at, SH. MH. gave a lecture on ‘Introduction to the Indonesian Legal System’. Dr. Reka Dewantara, SH. MH. gave a lecture on ‘Introduction to Islamic Banking System and Banking Law in Indonesia‘. Afifah Kusumadara, SH. LLM. SJD. gave a lecture on “Some Issues of the Private International Law in Indonesia ‘. Nanda Saraswati, SH. MH. gave a lecture on ‘The Position of International Law in the Indonesian Legal System’.

In addition to giving lectures, Dr. Reka Dewantara, SH. MH. also follow the Research Scholarship program at Leipzig University for one month. Te results of his research have been presented in the last week during ELC activities in Leipzig University, on June 10, 2015.

The participants had gaining so many benefits in the 2015′s ELC. According to Radhingga, Working Groups activities with German students gave him many lessons about social life in Germany. While for Annisa, Marwah, Adelia and Partogi, they learned a lot from the German legal cultures that are very different from the culture of Indonesian law.

The ELC program will continue on the campus of Faculty of Law, UB in Malang next August, in which the Indonesian and German students will present their results during their Working Group. (Kr)

Malang (9/6/2015) A total of 7 (seven) teams followed a series of Student Research Grant program or known as HPM program. The theme at this year HPM is “Contemporary Issues of Law” which includes the current legal issues surrounding the world. The Selection of an oral presentation was made at the 3rd Floor Building A FHUB, on Thursday 9 June 2015 yesterday.

The committee explained that a total of seven teams each consisting of several members, after the administration selection, the next stage is the selection of  oral interview in front of the jury. One of the participants of this year’s program is Kristiyanto HPM (2013), he raised the research theme of ”Analisis Tindakan Penenggelaman Kapal Asing oleh Pemerintah Republik Indonesia Sebagai Upaya Pemberantasan IUU Fishing Berdasarkan Hukum Internasional”.

The committee explained that among the seven teams who are participating in this year’s HPM program, will only take 5 (five) best teams, whose their research will be funded by the faculty. The Announcements of 5 qualified teams will be announced on the official website of FHUB on Monday next week. (Kr)

Sabtu (13/06/2015), Fakultas Hukum UB menyelenggarakan Pelepasan Sarjana, Magister Ilmu Hukum, Magister Kenotariatan, dan Doktor Ilmu Hukum FH UB Periode IX Tahun Akademik 2014/2015. Sebanyak 74 wisudawan dilepas dalam kesempatan tersebut yang terdiri dari 57 wisudawan program sarjana/S-1 (Hukum Perdata : 20, Hukum Pidana : 16, Hukum Tata Negara (HTN) : 3, Hukum Administrasi Negara (HAN) : 14, Hukum Internasional (HI) : 4), 8 wisudawan dari Magister Ilmu Hukum (MIH), 7 wisudawan dari Magister Kenotariatan (MKn), dan 2 wisudawan dari Program Doktor Ilmu Hukum.

Bertempat di Auditorium Gedung A Fakultas Hukum UB, acara ini dihadiri oleh Dekan dan seluruh jajaran pimpinan fakultas beserta orang tua dan pendamping para wisudawan. Pelepasan diawali dengan pembacaan ayat suci Al Quran, sambutan wakil wisudawan program sarjana oleh Ayu Hannah Zaimah, SH., sambutan dari orang tua wisudawan, dan dilanjutkan dengan sambutan dari Dekan FH UB, Dr. Rachmad Safa’at, SH., M.Si.

Setelah sambutan usai, dilakukan prosesi pengalungan gordon kepada semua wisudawan serta pemberian penghargaan kepada wisudawan yang memperoleh predikat Dengan Pujian (cumlaude) dan mahasiswa aktivis. Pada pelepasan tersebut, 20 wisudawan yang semuanya berasal dari program Sarjana, berhasil meraih predikat Dengan Pujian (cumlaude) dan mereka berhak menerima penghargaan yang pada kesempatan tersebut langsung diserahkan oleh Dekan FH UB, Dr. Rachmad Syafa’at, SH., M.Si. Yongky Putut A, SH., salah satu dari 20 mahasiswa peraih predikat Dengan Pujian, berhasil meraih IPK tertinggi yaitu 3,73. Selain penghargaan yang diberikan kepada mahasiswa yang meraih predikat Dengan Pujian, FH UB juga memberikan penghargaan yang diserahkan oleh Wakil Dekan III, Arif Zainudin, SH. M.Hum, kepada 10 mahasiswa program Sarjana yang selama masa kuliah menjadi aktivis kampus. Setelah pemberian penghargaan, dilakukan doa bersama dan dilanjutkan dengan ramah tamah.

Saturday (13/06/2015), The Faculty of Law UB held a graduation of Undergraduates, Master of Law, Master of Notary, and Doctoral of Law on the 9th Period Academic Year 2014/2015. A total of 74 student was officially graduated in the event that consists of 57 undergraduate degree program/S-1 (Civil Law: 20, Criminal Law: 16, Constitutional Law (HTN): 3, the State Administration Law (HAN): 14, International Law ( HI): 4), 8 graduates of the Master of Law (MIH), 7 graduates of the Master of Notary (MKn), and two graduates of the Doctoral Program.

At the Auditorium Building A UB Law Faculty, the event was attended by the Dean and the whole range of faculty leaders and their parents. The graduation ceremony begins with the recitation of the Quran, then speech in which the undergraduates is represented by Ayu Hannah Zaimah, SH., The speech from parents, and followed by a speech from Dean FH UB, Dr. Rachmad Safa’at, SH., M.Sc.

After the speech was over, the event was continued with gordon procession ceremony to all the graduates and awards to the graduates who received a designation With Compliments (cum laude) and student activists. At the graduation, there are 20 graduates who all come from undergraduate programs, which then awarded With Compliments (cum laude) and they are entitled to receive the award on the occasion directly submitted by the Dean of FH UB, Dr. Rachmad Syafa’at, SH., M.Sc. Yongky Putut A, SH., One of 20 students winning the title with praise, earned the highest GPA of 3.73. In addition to the award given to the student who achieves the compliment, FH UB also gives an award submitted by the Vice Dean III, Arif Zainudin, SH. M.Hum, to 10 students during the courses as the campus activist. After the award presentation, the event was continued by praying and continued with suave among the guests.

The Student Association of Criminal Law (HIMAKOPI) on 8 and June 9, 2015, held a Excursion Study to the office of Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia, the Supreme Court (MA) of the Republic of Indonesia, the Institute for Research and Advocacy for the Independence of the Judiciary, Center for the Study of Law and Policy, as well as the office of hukumonline.com. The Excursion Study was followed by around 52 students and was accompanied by two lecturers Fachrizal Afandi, SH, SPsi, MH and Ladito Risang, SH, where one of the agenda is the submission of Position Paper about Strengthening the function of the Prosecutor, in the criminal justice system Indonesia.

According to the Chairman HIMAKOPI, Radhingga Dwi Setiana, the visits to several institutions in Jakarta was a continuation of the studies that have been done several times before HIMAKOPI related to the current issues of formal criminal law related with pre-trial and the strengthening the functions of dominus litis of the Prosecutor, and the material criminal law related to the bill of the Criminal Code (RUU KUHP) which will be discussed in the Parliament, later this year. The main different from this excursion study according to Mr. Fachrizal Afandi as the lecturer of criminal law, is that there is a preparation of the Position paper resulted from internal studies that have been conducted before to address the current criminal law issues in the community. Excursions study like this must be strengthened and continued to be preserved in the future excursions, Fachrizal said.

On the first occasion in a series of visits to Jakarta, at the Attorney General, in addition to discussions on the theme Strengthening the principle of litis Dominus Attorney of the Republic of Indonesia in the Criminal Justice System, HIMAKOPI also submitted a position paper the results of an internal review related to the analysis and efforts that should be made to strengthen the prosecutor dominus litis in the draft of Criminal Procedure Code.

Then, in the Supreme Court (MA) of the Republic of Indonesia, HIMAKOPI conducted a scientific discussion that discusses the practical matters relating to criminal justice in Indonesia, as well as the competencies that must be owned by the judge to keep the dignity of the judiciary in upholding the justice. Beside that, HIMAKOPI also held firsthand discussion about  how the opinion of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia relating to arrangements of Pre-Court Procedural Law in the reformation of Criminal Procedure Law (KUHAP).

Lastly, Himakopi also visited some NGOs that are active in research related the reformation of criminal law and criminal procedure law, such as the Institute for Research and Advocacy for Judicial Independence (LeIP) in which they are concern on the issue of renewal of the Supreme Court, the Centre for Law and Policy Studies (PSHK) which initiate and oversee Advocate Law as well as the news portal, hukumonline.com that has become one of the main references in scrutinizing the legal issues. During the visit, the students are introduced how the mechanisms was work, a collection of literature and research that has been done. Radhingga added that in this occasion, they also held a discussions with the researchers at those institutions related to the reformation of the Material Criminal Law in Indonesia.

HIMAKOPI Chairman stated that, through this activity the students can acquire new knowledge related to how the practice of law is important to know in addition to textual knowledge acquired in the lecture during the class. Direct interaction with legal practitioners in each institution is expected to establish a good relationship, which can be useful for the academic interests of the students in their future career. A total of 12 students of the Faculty of Law ,University of Brawijaya attend the interview selection of Student Exchange program that will be held at University Kebangsaan Malaysia, next August. This selection is a continuation of the administrative selection has been held previously. Those 12 students come from a variety of batches.

The Exchange Student Selection interview took place on Thursday (18/6/2015) in Conference Room 3 Building A, Faculty of Law, University of Brawijaya.  The panelist of Interview consists of three experts, namely: AAA Ananda Saraswati, SH, M. Hum, Dahlan, SH, M. Hum, and Ardi, SH, M. Hum

One  the panelist, Ananda Saraswati asking various questions regarding the preparation of students in joining the Student Exchange program, students also give different responses related to the question. One of the participants, Satria marwan (2013) says that he had prepared various matters relating to the preparation, such as health and English language skills, other participants, Krishna (2012) says that she is currently focused on improving the English language skills, “Because later on all activities we in Malaysia will be conducted with the English language, then good language skills is needed, apart from that, I have also learned a little bit related to the Malaysian culture, ” she explained.

The committee explained that from the total of 12 students who attend a series of selection will only be taken  3 (three) best who are entitled to be delegates of the Faculty of Law UB to join Student Exchange in University Kebangsaan Malaysia, which will be held late August to late September 2015. The announcement of those top 3 qualified students will be announced at the website hukum.ub.ac.id

The range of Student exchange selection to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia has came to an end, in which the panelist, have officially announced the results of interview selection that was held last week. of a total of 12 students who attend the interview selection, the team of panelist consisting of three lecturers of FHUB namely; AAA Nanda Saraswati, SH, M, H, M. Dahlan, SH, MH, and and Ardi SH, MH, has announced the total of 3 (three) names of students who are entitled to represent the Faculty of Law UB  in the Student Exchange program.

Friday (06/27/2015), Faculty of Law Brawijaya University held a graduation for the period of June 2015 to 81 students. There were 62 students from the Undergraduate Program, 1 student of Bachelor of Law Double Degree Program with Faculty of Syariah UIN Maliki, three students of the Master of Law Program, and 15 students of the Master of Notary. Taking place in the auditorium of the faculty of law, the graduation was led by the Dean, Dr. Rachmad Safa’at, SH., M.Sc., accompanied by Vice Dean III, Head of the Undergraduate Program, and other faculty officials.

A total of 25 students graduated with honors with praise from the Undergraduate Program. The highest GPA in Law Program was achieved by Nanda Yoga Rohmana with a GPA of 3.85, while the Master of Notary was achieved by Tazkiah Ashfia with a GPA of 3.92. In the event, each student was called to receive a Certificate of Graduation from the Dean and also congratulations from the ranks of faculty leaders.

Dean of the faculty of law, Dr. Rachmad Safa’at, SH., M.Sc., on the occasion told all the students that that are many challenges in finding a job, while the number of unemployment continues to increase. It may therefore be the task for all graduates of the Faculty of Law to improve the legal conditions which are in crisis. Dean also asked the students to not forget the campus and alma mater when returning to  the community. All participants were also encouraged to join the bond ALUMNI so they can exchange information to solve the difficulties that may be experienced.

Malang (29/6/2015) Two law students of Universitas Brawijaya participated in the conference of TIJ Youth Forum 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand from  3 – 6 june 2015 early last month. TIJ Youth Forum 2015 is established thanks to the cooperation between Thailand Institute of Justice along with the Asian Society of International Law by taking the theme of “The Rule of Law and Development Nexus: A new deal for asia?“. The students were Gina Sabrina (2013) and Jenuarani Artha (2013), the conference was attended by dozens of students from various countries, including Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand, Japan, Bangladesh.

Gina Sabrina explained that much experience they acquire during follow these activities, including the importance of the role of law to provide access to justice to the people of a country. Besides, she explained that this kind of activity is a platform to add connections and network with colleagues from various countries who would be very useful in today’s globalization era. She advised her students peer to  not afraid to follow the international activities like this, “a learner is a person who is always looking for opportunities and the chance to try, if I could do it  means other friends can also do it” she affirm.

International event such as the Youth Forum activities TIJ 2015 is one of the platform that can be used by students,to improve the network as well to dig useful knowledge gained through experience. In addition of course, this kind of activity is indirectly introduced Indonesia, especially UB in the international arena. Held in conjunction with the Asian Society of International Law, the conference was taking the grand theme  “The Rule of Law and Development Nexus : A  New  Deal  for  Asia”, this Youth Forum aims to promote better understanding of the Rule of Law, the culture of lawfulness and the interrelationship between the Rule of Law and sustainable development as well as engaging youth in the mission of mainstreaming the Rule of Law in Asian society.

Dies Natalies Fakultas Hukum Universitas Brawijaya ke 58 pada tahun 2015 mengangkat tema “Dengan Semangat Kebersamaan Kita Wujudkan Fakultas Hukum Universitas Brawijaya yang Mandiri dan Berdaya Saing di Tingkat Internasional”. Sebagai salah satu dari rangkaian kegiatan peringatan Dies Natalis tersebut, FH UB menggelar acara Buka Puasa bersama keluarga besar Fakultas Hukum UB pada Rabu, 01 Juli 2015. Acara yang digelar di Aula gedung B FH UB dihadiri oleh dosen dan karyawan FH UB beserta keluarga, perwakilan mahasiswa, pensiunan dan alumni FH UB, para pimpinan di lingkungan Universitas Brawijaya, serta beberapa pejabat di Kota Malang.

Acara yang dimulai pukul 16.00 WIB dimeriahkan oleh orkes gambus Al-Kawakib dari Singosari yang penampilannya semakin menghangatkan suasana. Dekan FH UB, Dr. Rachmad Safa’at, SH., M.Si., dalam sambutannya mengatakan bahwa peringatan dies natalis ini merupakan momen yang sangat tepat untuk Fakultas Hukum melakukan introspeksi diri. Para pendahulu FH UB ini setahap demi setahap telah menata dan membangun FH UB mulai dari SDM, kurikulum, visi misi, dan hal-hal lainnya. Dekan juga mengungkapkan rasa terimakasih dan penghargaan yang setinggi-tingginya kepada para sesepuh pendiri FH UB yang telah meletakkan fondasi pengembangan pendidikan hukum di FH UB hingga saat ini FH UB telah menjadi salah satu fakultas dengan peminat terbanyak.

Dalam kesempatan tersebut, Dekan juga meyerahkan santunan kepada anak yatim dari panti asuhan serta bingkisan kepada para pensiunan FH UB. Setelah berbuka puasa bersama, acara dilanjutkan dengan ceramah agama dan sholat tarawih bersama. Ceramah diisi oleh Prof. Dr. Dailami Firdaus, SH., guru besar Universitas Asafiiyah Jakarta sekaligus alumni FH UB. Sedangkan sebagai imam dalam sholat tarawih bersama adalah Ust. Tabrani, S.Ag, beliau adalah karyawan purna tugas FH UB.

Malang (30/06/2015) The student affairs of the Faculty of Law Brawijaya University held the interview selection for the committee of the upcoming student enrolment for the year 2015/2016 or also known as PK2MABA. The range of selection was followed by hundreds of students. The interview was took place in Room A.6.2 Building A FHUB with filled by hundreds of applicants.

Team selection panel consisting of the Chairman BEM FHUB, DSM Coordinator as well as lecturers. Selection mechanism interview conducted in turns which each consist of 10 students. Selection interview began with general questions by the jury to each student, then followed by specific questions in accordance with the desired position by each applicants.

There are various opinions expressed by the applicants during the interview. One of the applicants, namely Satria A Marwan (2013) says that in this selection he chose the position as the Head of Committee. When he was  asked about his concept for this year’s PK2MABA, he explains “The concept that I offer is to provide a sense of belonging to the faculty, so how do we as a committee should be able to instill a sense of pride because those new students had successsfuly entered into FHUB which was one of the best school in the country. For realizing my concept, there are several methods which I offer such as inviting alumni of UB that have been successful, etc, with such things I’m sure it will inculcate the spirit of brotherhood, so that the students will be the new compact generation”.

The committee explained that the results of the selection interview will be announced soon, and related information can be accessed through hukum.ub.ac.id for later announcement.

Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia in cooperation with the department of Constitutional Law (HTN) Faculty of Law Brawijaya University held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Monday, July 6, 2015. The theme was “Examination of Regulations Implementation of Regional Head Election Unison”, as an effort to conduct public hearings to find solutions related to the tug regulations regarding election dispute resolution simultaneously. Held in the Auditorium of the 6^th floor of the building A, the FGD was attended by more than 100 participants from all over East Java Election Commission officials, faculty, and students. Also presented at the meeting were some members of the Regional Representative Council, one of which was I Wayan Gede Pasek Suardika, council members from the Democratic Party and former Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives.

The FGD presented two speakers, namely Dr. Jazim Hamidi, SH.MH., lecturer in Constitutional Law department of the faculty of law Brawijaya University, and Eko Sasmito, Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) in East Java. The moderator in the FGD was M.Dahlan, SH.MH., a lecturer in Constitutional Law department of the faculty of law Brawijaya University. In his speech the Dean of the faculty of law, Dr. Rachmad Safa’at, SH. M.Sc., said that the meeting about the simultaneous election is very important to be able to contribute and simultaneously stimulate critical points so that later the government, the party and the people can face these changes. The Dean also hopes that this meeting could yield important formula for improvement in the preparation of the upcoming election regulations.
